BREAKING FREE - BETH MOORE

This class will offer two sessions beginning January 23. Choose either the morning session at 9:30 a.m. in room S201 or the evening session at 6:30 p.m. in room E225. This in-depth Bible study leads you through Isaiah 61:1-4 to discover the transforming power of Christian freedom by drawing parallels between the captive Israelites and the spiritual strongholds in our lives.  11 weeks. Childcare is available.

THE GOSPEL OF MARK

Few (if any) written works have more profoundly altered the landscape of human history than the four Gospel accounts of the life and teaching of Jesus. The Gospel According to Mark stands among those works. Despite its small size relative to the others, Mark's Gospel is a monumental piece of historical and theological reflection on the most influential person ever to walk the face of the Earth.

Over the course of 12 weeks, learners will be guided through Mark’s narration of the events leading up to and immediately following the life of Jesus. Under the power and inspiration of the Holy Spirit, Mark has artfully created reading cues that will direct the study to a depth of understanding we may not have yet reached.

There will be a fee for the workbook. This class will meet on Tuesdays beginning Jan. 23 at 9:30 a.m. for 12 weeks.

Disciple aims at transformation, not just information and calls on persons to submit themselves to examination by Scripture, to put themselves under the power of God's Word, and to be changed by God's Word.

There is a $32 fee for the workbook due during registration or in class. This fee will cover both sessions.

EPIC OF EDEN: ISAIAH

Often named “the fifth gospel,” the book of the prophet Isaiah has more to say about Israel’s coming Messiah than any other Old Testament book. Brilliant, courageous, uncompromising, this prophet declared that “the year of the LORD” had come and God’s people needed to either step up, or stand down. Indeed, when Isaiah spoke, kings trembled.

But too often, when Isaiah speaks today, God’s people have trouble hearing. Why? We often miss the larger context. In The Epic of Eden: Isaiah, Dr. Sandra Richter takes participants back to the eighth century BCE. This eight-week study explains Israel’s religion and economy, explores the definition and role of the prophets, and helps us to apply the message of this great champion of the faith to our lives today.  There will be a fee for the workbook in class. Room E225, Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m., starting March 7, 2018.
