AS YOU WALK
Mondays, starting August 22
9:15 - 11 a.m.
5 Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. 6 These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. 7 Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.
God tells us in His word to teach our children about Him throughout our daily interactions. Whether you are new to church and the Bible or are reconnecting in your current role as a parent of young children, this study is going to meet you where you are in your faith. Learning in community, you recognize that you're on this journey together with other families. Your children will have faith questions. We want to equip parents with answers, tools and encouragement. Study will give you a greater understanding of personal faith and enable you to apply and teach those beliefs to your children.
Participate in this 8-week study with five readings to complete weekly in preparation for discussion and group activities. We will learn from Genesis in a Bible study that traces the roots of our biblical family tree from Adam and Eve to Joseph and his brothers. Broken and Blessed: How God Used One Imperfect Family to Change the World. Despite their brokenness, God chose to love and bless this family so that they might be a blessing. As we get to know each generation through traits that were passed down, we will see that God worked for good in their lives and He desires to do the same in our own imperfect families. You have an important job to play as part of God's family. You will know with confidence that your family can also be used by God to bring blessing into a hurting and broken world.
We will also work through a curriculum called Grow at Home: A Beginner's Guide to Family Discipleship. Parents play a critical role in shaping children's lives through discipleship. This occurs when parents help their children become followers of Jesus Christ in the home through reading the Bible, praying, worshipping, and doing mission together. To begin the journey we will use this book as a guide to help you incorporate your faith into the daily routines of your home. It starts in your marriages, by loving your spouse with the love of Christ. It happens by teaching, loving, and sharing your faith with your children. If every family in every church got serious about making disciples, it would change our world. Let the journey begin!
