THE NEIGHBORHOOD

WHAT IS THE NEIGHBORHOOD?

In this time of isolation, we all long for the days where we can gather around seemingly ordinary activities and be present in each other's company. It is more apparent than ever before how holy gathering can be. The ordinary act of simply being around others is central to what it means to be human. It is during these times that we need to claim the sacredness of these acts by ordaining the ordinary and discovering new ways to be in connection with each other.

However, if you are like us, it seems like you need a filing system for all of the Zoom links you have been getting. The question we wanted to answer was, "What if there was a single Zoom link that connected you to all of our different social activities?" Whether it was coffee with Pat, a hang out with Whitney, or playing trivia. What if there was one link we could all return to time and time again?  Welcome to The Neighborhood.

The Neighborhood is just that. A place for us all to be in community together, for us to have our events and socials, our neighborhood. We will update the schedule here and on social media when we add new events.  This is our solution to make it easier to stay connected. Our hope is it will be a place you can meet your virtual neighbors and be reminded that none of us are truly alone. This is yet another outpost of heaven on earth where we can connect the world with God's love. We are made for connection, and yes, it looks different right now, but we are thankful that you are our neighbors in the midst of all of this, so let's hang out!

Please email info@stpkaty.org for the ZOOM link. Once you have the link, you may use it for every event at the specified event time.

Do you like to cook? Or just like to watch cooking shows? Join us via the Zoom app on Mondays at 4 p.m. to see a demo of a recipe along with casual conversation. We hope to have the list of ingredients for the following Monday ahead of time for you so you can have the ingredients ready. We are also looking for people who might like to host an evening with their own favorite recipe. Please email info@stpkaty.org for more information.

Looking for a fun break and a way to have fellowship with others? Join us via Zoom for our church-wide book club. This group is for both men and women. Don't worry if you get behind, you can still join us! Most of the books can be bought via hardback, audible or kindle. For more info, contact Whitney Peper at wpeper@stpkaty.org.

Men, join Dr. Pat Sparks at 7:30 a.m. on Thursday mornings via Zoom for coffee and conversation. All the men of the church are invited for a time of fellowship to connect over various topics - especially baseball stories! Conversation around coffee is an excellent opportunity to connect with friends and make new ones, and we invite men from all our venues and ages to join us as we embark on this new way to live into the Gather segment of the 4G's. For more info, contact Dr. Pat Sparks at psparks@stpkaty.org

Men, we realize many of you guys miss opportunities to hang out at local establishments to watch sports, open up your backyards for barbecues or crawfish boils, or compete with one another playing games in person. Men of all ages are invited to join us via the Zoom app every Thursday at 8 p.m. to enjoy a beverage and catch up. James Shuler and Cody Travers will lead stimulating conversations, like power ranking Texas sports teams, or debating who is the best James Bond. Email info@stpkaty.org for more info.

Join us for trivia on Fridays at 8 p.m. Zoom allows us to create a giant room where everyone can join and then break groups into breakout rooms so they can talk over their answers on their teams. So grab a group of friends and get ready to test your knowledge against others in our St. Peter's family! Please email Rev. Alex Zeisig to get the link, then sign in at 7:45 p.m. to get yourself or team set up. Bonus point to anyone that emails your team in ahead of time to Alex at azeisig@stpkaty.org
