Students: UM ARMY

UM ARMY stands for United Methodist Action Reach-out Mission by Youth and is a time for students to go out and serve others. Many other churches around the state, and even country, participate in this every year. During this event students will serve others, engage in worship, get to know new people, and enjoy fun games and activities!

Please complete all three sections of the registration process below:

The event starts Sunday, July 6 and will end Saturday, July 12.

Here is the gist of each day:

Sunday – Gather at St. Peter’s, travel to location, team building, orientation, worship

Mon-Fri – Breakfast, worksite/serve most of day, showers, dinner, evening activities, worship

Saturday – Clean up host church, final worship, travel home

For high school students - $300
This cost covers food, building materials, activities, worship, t-shirt, and more to make this event happen.
Scholarships/financial assistance is available for families in need. This includes paying installments, discounts and full coverage.

Students who currently in the 9th-12th grade. Anyone graduated under 21 can attend as an “intern” and can serve in a variety of different roles. Also, Adults 21-and-over are much needed to serve in different leadership roles.

This event cannot happen without adult leaders! The most critical role for this event are Work Team Adults (WTA). In this role, adults are paired with a group of students (usually 4-6) where they will go and work on a project together. This is the most fun and rewarding role for adults to have. You do not need to be an expert at construction but just a heart to serve and a heart to get to know students. The number of WTA we have will determine the number of students that can participate in the event.
Other roles to help include: Safety team, Kitchen Team, and Color Group Leaders (to guide and help WTA). But just know that these roles are limited.

The location of this year’s UM ARMY is in Lufkin, TX.

Traditional UM ARMY works usually includes things like: simple home repairs, building wheelchair ramps/porches, painting, yard work, etc. for people/homeowners in need of assistance. We may also serve local organizations like food pantries, church ministries, non-profits, etc.
Even if you do not have much experience with any of these, we will have adults available to teach you. This is a great way to experience new talents and abilities within you!

Multiple churches/congregations will be participating in UM ARMY this year. We will update you one which will be in attendance once they are all confirmed.
Each of these churches are helping plan and organize this event and are excited to share this experience with each other!

We hope this helps you understand what UM ARMY is better. If you have any further questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to email your questions to studentministry@stpkaty.org.
